Honda is testing its battery swapping technology with this e-scooter
A new set of spy shots of the Honda Benly e electric scooter have emerged on the internet, confirming the Japanese bikemaker’s plans of introducing new EVs in India. However, the mules didn’t bear a temporary number plate, but were registered in Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s name.
Honda commenced its pilot programme for testing its battery-swapping tech on two- and three-wheelers in Bengaluru. Not only has the company set up a dedicated subsidiary in India but also partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited to set up battery swapping stations across the country.

The Benly e electric scooter seems to be the base for testing the battery-swap module. However, this B2B e-scooter is unlikely to be launched in India. This story will give you an insight on why we think so.
The first electric product from the Japanese brand in India would be an all-new EV that could cash in on the Activa moniker, and it could be called the Honda Activa Electric.
Honda has already committed to launching two commuter EVs specific to the Indian and other Asian markets between 2024 and 2025.
In related news, Honda also intends on stepping into the 100cc commuter segment to grab a slice of the Hero Splendor’s massive market share.
