While we are all waiting for the Honda Activa Electric scooter to arrive in India, Honda has unveiled a family-focused electric scooter at EICMA 2024, called the CUV e. It is based on the Honda SC e concept and has a similar design as the concept.
The Honda CUV e can possibly be the electric scooter on which the upcoming Honda Activa Electric scooter will be based on. The CUV e features a traditional scooter design and Honda claims that it is equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered scooter. It gets smooth and sculpted body panels, which give the e-scooter a minimalist and elegant look.
It is available in three different colour schemes including Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Premium Silver Metallic.
What does it get?
The Honda CUV e electric scooter comes with a mid-mounted electric motor that makes a maximum power of 6kW. It has two removable 1.3kWh batteries which claim to deliver a range of 70km on a single charge and has an 80kmph top speed. The electric scooter takes 3 hours to charge from 0 to 75 percent and charges from 0 to 100 percent in 6 hours using a standard charger.
Featurewise, the CUV e gets two different TFT consoles, the standard variant has a 5-inch instrument console but misses out on smartphone connectivity. Whereas the Honda RoadSync Duo variant features a 7-inch TFT instrument console with Smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for navigation, call/SMS alerts and music controls. The electric scooter also gets an all-LED lighting setup, a USB-C charging port and has three riding modes: Standard, Sport and Econ. Additionally, it also gets a fob key and a reverse mode as standard.
The Honda electric scooter is equipped with a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It uses a 190mm front disc and a 110mm drum brake at the rear. It has 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends. The CUV e has a 1,310mm wheelbase, 765mm seat height and a 270mm ground clearance.
This one seems promising and if Honda manufactures the Activa Electric on the same platform, then it can turn out to be highly beneficial for the manufacturer. Honda can also utilise its existing battery swapping network in India for the starting phase, then it can be expanded to pan-India as well.
