We compare the 300cc maxi-scooters via a series of detailed images

Yamaha XMax 300 vs Honda Forza 300

The Yamaha XMax 300 and Honda Forza 300 are two very capable maxi-scooters and offer serious performance and a host of features. While we expect to see smaller capacity versions of these scooters in India, the 300cc scooters are already on sale overseas in Europe. Here’s a detailed image comparison between the Yamaha XMax 300 and Honda Forza 300:

The XMax 300 and Forza 300 follow the maxi-scooter diktat. These full-size scooters get a large front apron with a big windscreen, a stepped seat and large wheels.

Both maxi scooters get full-LED lighting. While the XMax 300 gets twin headlamp setup, the Forza 300 has a larger single main beam flanked by two smaller headlamps.

Both scooters get a large storage space owing to the fuel tank being relocated to the floorboard. While both can accommodate full-size helmets, the Yamaha has deeper storage space. It also gets two additional cubby holes on the front apron.

Interestingly, both maxi-scooters get a similar twin-pod layout with a large digital screen in the middle. The digital display houses information such as fuel level, temperature gauge, clock, ambient temperature and other telltale lights.

The Yamaha gets a 292cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected single-cylinder motor that delivers 28PS and 29Nm. The Honda’s 279cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected motor delivers 25.1PS and 27.2Nm. They both use a CVT automatic transmission. The XMax 300 and Forza 300 claim to offer a fuel-efficiency of around 31kmpl.

Both maxi-scooters use similar suspension setup in the form of a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers at the rear. They even use 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels with 120/70-15 and 140/70-14 tyre sizes. The Forza 300 gets radial tyres, though. Braking on the XMax 300 is via larger 267mm front disc and 245mm rear disc. The Honda Forza 300 gets 256mm front and 240mm rear disc. Interestingly the Yamaha weighs 2kg less than the Honda’s 182kg kerb weight. Both get dual-channel ABS.

The Yamaha XMax 300 is priced from 5,498 GBP (Rs 5.26 lakh) while the Forza 300 is priced at 5,199 GBP (Rs 4.97 lakh). Honda will be bringing the Forza 300 to India via the CBU route and it is likely to cost Rs 2.70 lakh (ex-showroom) here. While there are no plans of launching the XMax 300 in India, Yamaha could bring the Cygnus-X 125 here.
