The Ducati Multistrada V2 is available in two variants: Standard and S

  • The Ducati Multistrada V2 starts from Rs 14,65,000 (ex-showroom India).
  • Comes with revised components making it 5kg lighter, and also gets tweaked ergonomics.
  • Shares its powertrain and underpinnings with the Ducati Multistrada 950.

Ducati India has launched the Ducati Multistrada V2 here, at Rs 14,65,000 for the standard variant and Rs 16,65,000 for the S variant. Comparatively, its predecessor, the Ducati Multistrada 950S retailed at Rs 15.49 lakh (all ex-showroom India). The Multistrada V2 isn’t just a rebadged 950, as Ducati has worked on the ADV on several aspects to help it have its own identity.

Ducati has worked on weight reduction, so with the new rear view mirrors, aluminium disc flanges, and lighter engine internals, the bike is 5kg less than its predecessor, and weighs 199kg for the standard variant and 203kg for the S model.

Ducati has also tweaked the seat, with a narrower profile to ensure shorter riders can keep their feet planted. Moreover, the seat height has also gone down by 10mm to 830mm. For perspective, the Royal Enfield Himalayan has an 800mm saddle height. The footpegs have been lowered too, for better ergonomics.

The powertrain and the rest of the underpinnings have remained more or less the same as its predecessor. It continues to be powered by the same 937cc liquid-cooled L-twin engine as before, and produces the same output figures as the Multistrada 950S: 114.5PS and 94Nm. It works alongside a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch. The bike is loaded with electronic aids including cornering ABS, traction control, multiple riding modes, hill hold control, and an emergency hazard lamp function. The S variant comes with cornering lights, cruise control, and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.

Underpinnings include a 48mm inverted fork and rear monoshock - both fully-adjustable, whereas the S variant is equipped with Ducati Skyhook semi-active suspension. Braking for both variants is via dual 320mm discs up front and a 265mm unit at the rear, grabbed by Brembo calipers. This is more of a road-biased ADV, and hence rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped with road-biased tyres. That said, a pair of spoke wheels with tubeless tyre compatibility is also available as an option. While the standard bike gets a full LCD instrument cluster, the S variant gets a proper 5-inch TFT screen and illuminated switchgear. Smartphone connectivity is optional for both variants.

Summing up, the Ducati Multistrada V2 is a fairly well-rounded upgrade over its predecessor, but at Rs 14,65,000, it is still an expensive proposition compared to its feature-packed rivals, the Triumph Tiger 900 GT (Rs 13,70,000) and the recently launched BMW F 900 XR Pro (Rs 12,30,000, all ex-showroom India).
