If you thought the Streetfighter V4 and V4 S were extremes, you have to check out the SP variant!

Ducati has expanded its naked bike arsenal with the unveiling of the Streetfighter V2 and the Streetfighter V4 SP. The former is a brand new addition to the Streetfighter bloodline, while the latter is a more menacing form of the current models.

First, the baby Streetfighter

While the Streetfighter V2 does share quite a bit of component with the faired Panigale V2, it’s distinct in its own right as well. It’s the spitting image of the V4, and we aren’t complaining. However, the Streetfighter V2 comes sans the bi-planar carbon fibre wings. But you can buy them as an optional accessory if you want the 27kg downforce while gunning for 235kmph.

It’s powered by the same 955cc Superquadro L-twin motor as the V2 (but is tuned differently), making 153PS and 101.4Nm. That’s 2PS less than the Panigale V2. However, the shorter final drive should compensate for the deficit.

Oh, lest we forget, the Streetfighter V2 gets a laundry list of electronics -- three riding modes (Sport, Road, and Wet), traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, three throttle maps, and a bi-directional quickshifter mated to the 6-speed gearbox.

Holding things together is the aluminium monocoque frame from the Panigale V2. It’s suspended on 43mm Showa BP-SFF USD and Sachs monoshock. The Sachs steering damper and Brembo braking hardware have also been carried over. The cast-aluminium swingarm has been elongated by 16mm for extra stability.

The Streetfighter V2 is equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres. These are said to be better than the Rosso 3s, but not as grippy as the Rosso 2s, although longer lasting.

Now, the Streetfighter V4 SP

As if the existing Streetfighter V4 range wasn’t already ludicrous enough, Ducati has now dialled it up to 11 with the SP variant. Apart from the new Winter Test livery, the Streetfighter V4 SP is 3kg lighter than the standard model (with 1.4kg reduced by the new carbon rims).

The 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine makes 208PS and 123Nm. You can bump the power up to 220PS by adding the optional full-system Akrapovic exhaust (also helps to further reduce 6 kgs). Furthermore, as standard fitment, you get the dry clutch, carbon fibre front mudguard, lithium-ion battery, and the Rizoma billet aluminium adjustable footpegs on the new Streetfighter V4 SP.

With the addition of the Streetfighter V2, Ducati should now have an even wider range of prospective buyers, while the Streetfighter V4 continues pushing the envelope in its segment.
