Along with a limited edition paint scheme, here’s what we think it will, or wish it would, come with
After putting up a teaser last week, Honda has once again put up a teaser on its website about the upcoming variant of India's best-selling scooter, the Activa 6G and the model bears the word ‘Premium’ right under the Activa badge.
While the upcoming scooter is not the seventh-generation model of the Activa we were hoping it would be, it’ll likely be a limited edition of the Activa 6G, something similar to what Honda did with the Activa 5G Gold Edition, back in 2019. What’s been teased now is essentially a ‘Gold Edition’ of the Activa as the second teaser showed the Activa in a matte green paint scheme with gold-coloured vents on its apron. But this time, if the teasers are to be believed, we think it’ll just be called the Activa 6G Premium.
What We’d Like To See
Though the Honda Activa has been one of India’s best-selling two-wheelers, there were some things we found missing on the current iteration of the scooter when we rode it.
Our major grouse with the Active 6G was the lack of a disc brake at the front, which is not even offered as an option. Along with that, we’d also like to see Honda equip the upcoming scooter with alloy wheels, something that the Activa 6G misses out on.
And a semi-digital instrument cluster would up the Activa 6G’s game too, especially considering that its chief rival, the TVS Jupiter offers all of the above.
Apart from that, the upcoming Activa will probably be unchanged mechanically. It’ll continue with the familiar 109.5cc mill, which is tuned to produce 7.79PS and 8.84Nm.
With all these changes, we expect the new variant of the Activa to carry a premium of Rs 3,000-5,000 over the current iteration, whose base variant retails for Rs 72,400 (ex showroom Delhi).
