The Italian motorcycle maker- Ducati has already announced to re-start its operations in India by March 18th 2015. The company seems to launch its entire range in the Indian market, and its latest Scrambler Ducati is expected to be the least priced motorcycle here with a price tag of between Rs. 7-10 lakh. It is a lifestyle motorcycle, which has been reintroduced by the company with the legacy of the old model.
The First Ducati Scrambler was introduced in 1962 and soon turned a series of single-cylinder engine powered scrambler motorcycles, with various engine displacements. The second series of the motorcycles was started introducing from 1968 with a wide engine case and improved frames. These motorcycles were produced till 1974 and and this second gen Ducati scrambler is the basis of the latest Scrambler Ducati.
Design and Styling:
The New Scrambler Ducati series has 4 different models, based on the similar platform. These have been christened as Icon, Urban Enduro, Classic and Full Throttle. The bikes have been assembled on tubular steel trellis frame with Kayaba suspension-setup having 41mm inverted forks at the front and preload adjustable single-shock at the rear.
The different variants of the Scrambler Ducati run on different type of 18” front and 17” rear wheels, however, all of them gets Pirelli MT 60 RS dual sport tyres of section 110/80 and 180/55 at the front and the rear respectively. To control the motorcycle, front wheel has been equipped with a 330mm disc and radial 4-piston calliper, while the rear wheel gets single piston floating caliper grabbing a 245mm disc. All the variants have the ABS assistance as a standard feature for perfect braking.
The Scrambler Ducati series gets a very appealing appearance with a fusion of classic and modern styling. The bikes have a retro style tear drop steel tank with elegant interchangeable aluminium side panels. The classic style round headlight of the bike also gets a modern touch in the form of LED ring as positioning lamp.
There is a vast use of aluminium covers in its styling like heat cover and belt cover, which shows a craftsman spirit in design of the bike. It has an classic single-pod type instrument cluster with advance LCD display for every information. The smart LED tail lamp of the bike comes with diffusion light and there is an under-seat storage with USB socket for extra convenience.
Engine and Transmission:
Another Evolution in the Scrambler range is the elimination of single-cylinder motors. Propelling the Scrambler Ducati range of motorcycles is the same 803cc Desmodromic L-Twin engine, which also powers the popular Monster 796 (Known as Monster 795 in Asia). However, the air-cooled motor has been detuned to make them more refined and smooth. Using an electronic fuel injection system, it churns out power upto 75hp and torque upto 68Nm, which comes at 8,250rpm and 5,750rpm respectively. The engine comes mated to a smooth six-speed transmission using mechanically controlled APTC (Adler Power Torque Clutch) wet multiplate clutch, which reduces the clutch lever "pull" effort.
As we mentioned above, the motorcycle comes in 4 different trims, the above mentioned features belong to the Scrambler Ducati Icon. Apart from these standard characteristics, the other three variants have some additional features-
Scrambler Ducati Urban Endurance:
The Urban Endurance version of the Scrambler ducati comes with spoked aluminium wheels, high front mudguard, fork protectors and ribbed seat.
The Headlight gets a protective grill and the handlebar gets a cross bar for extra endurance strength.
It comes in a Wild Green colour scheme with dedicated logo and gets a protective engine sump guard and passenger grab rails.
Scrambler Ducati Classic:
The Classic model get spoked aluminium wheels and vintage seat.
It has a wide and high mounted handlebar, orange sunshine colour and fuel tank with black stripe and dedicated logo.
Front and rear mudguard have been made by aluminium.
Scrambler Ducati Full Throttle:
The Scrambler Ducati Full Throttle receives a Termignoni slip-on silencer, 10-spoke alloys, racing inspired seat, Black painted tank side panels and short front fender with Yellow stripe.
It has a lower flat track inspired aluminium handlebar.
The bike comes painted with a deep Black colour.
It also gets a sporty tail with extended rear indicator mounts.
So, all these features of the beautiful Scrambler Ducati makes it a lifestyle motorcycle and we strongly believe that it can be a trendsetter in India.
