Here’s a pocket-friendly old-school Scrambler to explore uncharted territories
Usually, our weekly Weird Flex stories feature whacky Chinese motorcycles. This time around, though, we have a European motorcycle from Mash, the X-Ride 650, that looks like a Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled which skipped breakfast.
At a glance, its resemblance to the Scrambler Desert Sled is quite evident from the golden spoke wheels, tall mudguard, slim fuel tank, and flat ribbed seat. Even its round headlamp is quite similar to the Desert Sled’s unit, even though it isn’t nearly as premium as the Ducati’s.
Towards the rear, the bike is reminiscent of the Triumph Scrambler 1200 thanks to the upswept exhausts that look rather ordinary for a 650cc bike. The rudimentary theme extends to the feature list as well, with just LED illumination, adjustable levers, and an analogue instrument cluster, similar to the Jawa 42’s setup.
Even the underpinnings on the X-Ride are conventional. It gets a standard fork up front, 17-inch spoke wheels, and single disc brakes at both ends with ABS.
At the centre of all this lies a 643cc single-cylinder motor pumping out an unimpressive 40PS and 45Nm, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. For reference, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled makes 73PS and 66Nm. But with a weight of just 177kg, the X-Ride should offer a fun ride.

Getting astride the X-Ride will be a task, though, with a seat height of 870mm, 10mm more than the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. Safe to say the X-Ride isn’t exactly suitable for the average Indian.
Mash has priced the X-Ride 650 at Rs 4.95 lakh (converted from European price) which sort of makes sense in Europe. We don’t expect it to make it to our shores, but if you’re looking for a pocket-friendly mid-capacity scrambler, Royal Enfield could be introducing one very soon!
