Casey Stoner Returns to Ducati as Test Rider and Brand Ambassador for 2016 MotoGP

 

Two time MotoGP world champion - Casey Stoner will soon join his former team Ducati as the Brand Ambassador and test rider for 2016 season. The Australian rider won his first MotoGP title for Ducati in the year 2007.Four years later in 2011  , he left the team and joined HRC (Honda Racing Company). The same year  he won the   title for the second time  and took retirement in 2012. 

 

 

After retiring, Stoner competed in Suzuka 8 hours and suffered serious shoulder and leg injury, which was caused by a mechanical fault. As per the agreement he had with Ducati, he  will take part in the 2016 World Ducati Week, which is scheduled to take place  July 1st to July 3rd, next year. Besides that, Stoner will also be doing a number of test rides for Ducati in 2016. Casey Stoner has won a total of 23 races for Ducati during his earlier innings with the brand from 2007 to 2010.

 

Commenting on this, he stated,  “It’s been a great journey with HRC over the last five years, winning the World Championship in 2011 was obviously a high point and I've made many friends and formed lasting relationships along the way. For 2016 I am very excited to announce that I will again be joining the Ducati team! I have so many great memories working with the people and the brand of Ducati and the opportunity to work with them again is something very special.” 

 

“Gigi Dall'Igna has brought with him a new approach and I'm looking forward to assisting the team, Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Lannone however I can. The Ducati brand and the Ducati fans have been such a big part of my career and my life, so it will be really great to reunite the relationship and start another chapter with this iconic brand,” he added.
