The Multistrada 1260 is powered by the Diavel’s motor and gets a couple of visual and electronic upgrades over the older 1200
Ducati is all set to launch the Multistrada 1260 and 1260S in India tomorrow. The Multistrada 1260 and 1260S will replace the older Multistrada 1200 lineup. Both variants of the new adventure tourer feature the Ducati Testastretta DVT engine, which claims to improve power delivery even in low gears, along with a new chassis and cutting-edge electronics.
The Multistrada 1260 features vehicle hold control (VHC), four power and riding modes, eight levels of traction control, cruise control, Ducati Safety Pack (Cornering ABS Bosch + DTC) and wheelie control. The Multistrada 1260S gets a few more features over the standard 1260 such as Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS), a quick shifter for faster gear shifts, cornering lights and a 5-inch full-colour TFT display.
Both versions are powered by a 1262cc, liquid-cooled, Ducati Testastretta DVT L-twin engine that produces 160PS at 9500rpm and 129.5Nm at 7500rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Although the new engine is less powerful than the one on the 1200, Ducati says it has tuned it to deliver a better spread of torque at low revs for better usability.
When launched, the Ducati Multistrada 1260 and 1260S will go up against the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx and BMW R 1200 GS.
