The 2019 Ducati Scrambler 800 series is all set to make its way to India soon. After speaking with a couple of Ducati India officials, we have learnt that the most affordable Ducati is set to arrive with the new updates that promise to make the riding experience a bit more pleasurable. The first to arrive will be the Icon and the rugged Desert Sled. The updated versions of the two variants will command a premium of at least Rs 50,000.
Shown first at the 2018 Intermot, Ducati equipped the Scrambler 800 with small yet relevant updates. The motorcycle now gets a hydraulic clutch for light clutch action. While the electronic aids on the Scrambler are still scant, it is now bolstered with cornering ABS. For 2019, these updates are standard on most motorcycles across the Ducati’s portfolio.
Ducati has also tweaked the suspension setup of the Scrambler for a more pliant ride. The old bike rode a bit on the stiffer side, especially when tackling Indian road conditions. It seems like Ducati has paid heed to its customers to make the said change.
The Icon will continue to be the base variant of the Scrambler while the Desert Sled is a more hardcore offering that befits the scrambler genre. The latter is perhaps the most off-road ready motorcycle in the Ducati lineup as the only other off-road spec bike is the Multistrada 1260 Enduro, something not many would choose as their first choice for having fun on the trials. Ducati India is likely to complete the 2019 Scrambler 800 lineup thereafter by bringing the Full Throttle and Cafe Racer variants too.
